What’s your background and how did you get into photography?
I took pictures for as long as I can remember and nobody knows how I got into it as I never saw my parents take pictures, it is only rather recently that I started sharing pictures online.
What drives you to create and how do you stay motivated?
I am not much of a writer, this is just my way of telling stories I wish to tell.
Why is doing what you do important to you?
I feel that some stories are worth sharing.
Walk us through your creating process.
A name for a series gives me a vague idea of what mood I am looking to create and what story to tell, it works best that way anyway. I have dozens of stories that will never go anywhere because they are already too refined and my expectations are now way too high to manage to create them.
What are your interests as a photographer?
The world at large, restrained beauty, the human body, and the broken.
How do you keep a good life/work balance?
This is something I am trying to be better at.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Fixing or breaking things, staying away from the computer.
What are your influences and how does it affect your work?
I look at the light in movies, watch documentaries, old magazines, people on the street, paintings. Everything has an impact no matter how small on the image you’re working on in the end.
Is it hard to find harmony between art projects and client work?
I am looking forward to the day when this becomes an issue, for now art projects vastly
Which camera is your favorite?
No camera is perfect, it all depends on the project. I do like cameras that force me to slow me down because I have to wrestle with them a bit.
Who are your favorite photographers?
Craig McDean, Zoe Ghertner, Jody Rogac, Taryn Simon, Maciek Pozoga, and Estelle Hanania.
Tell us something important you have learned.
Do it for yourself, always do it for yourself.
If you had to choose a different profession, what would it be?
I’m currently in a different profession, I cannot seem to stray too far away from photography though.
What are your future plans?
Generally shoot more, finally get around to printing the pictures for a show I’m having on the 7th of July in Paris.
